In reply to your despatch No.258 of the 27th.
July, I have the honour to inform you that the reason Mr. Baker's
pension paper was not forwarded to England was that a Clerk
in the Colonial Secretary's Office inadvertently filed the
papers connected with the matter before they had been finally
dealt with.
The mistake is regretted, and the pension paper
is now forwarded herewith.
